What I thought:
This novel is a heart-wrenching look at some very
heavy topics. Even though I,
luckily, have not had any experience with these situations, Ms. DeStefano did
an amazing job illustrating the pain, heartbreak, and turmoil that go along
with substance abuse, divorce, and the foster-care system. I found myself shedding tears, clinging
to the moments of joy, and praying for peace for these characters.
I was a bit confused when I began reading this book,
but I chalked that up to missing the second installment of this series- I will
be going back to Three Days on Mimosa Lane, to fill in the gaps. That being said, the strength of
emotion and the complexity of the characters quickly help to fill in the gaps,
and seep into your heart.
